Hampton Hero News Is Live: What This Means for the County
Franklin
Editor-at-Large, Hampton Hero News
VARNVILLE — Hampton County now has a new place to find its news. Hampton Hero News launched today as an independent community newsroom dedicated to covering the people, places, and decisions that shape life across Hampton County.
The outlet will publish stories about local government, education, public safety, community events, and the Hampton Hero spotlight — a regular feature profiling residents who make the county stronger.
"This county has stories worth telling," said Franklin, Editor-at-Large. "Who is building the new high school. When the Town Council votes on your water rates. Which students are winning scholarships. Which businesses are hiring. These are the stories that matter, and they deserve a place where people can find them."
Hampton Hero News covers all seven Hampton County towns: Hampton, Varnville, Estill, Brunson, Yemassee, Gifford, and Early Branch. Stories are sourced from public records, official websites, and direct email outreach to the people involved.
The newsroom operates on a simple accuracy policy: mistakes happen, and when they do, the goal is to correct them quickly. Readers who spot errors or have additional information are encouraged to email franklin@hamptonheronews.com.
Residents are invited to submit story tips, event announcements, and community news to the same address.
