HAMPTON — Navigating county government can feel like entering a labyrinth with a broken compass. Here is where to start.

The Hub: Hampton County Administration

200 Jackson Avenue East, Hampton, SC 29924. Main phone: 803-914-2100. Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

This building houses the County Council offices, the County Administrator, and several key departments.

County Council

The legislative body that sets the county budget, approves ordinances, and oversees departments. Chaired by Dr. Roy Hollingsworth. Seven members represent districts across the county.

Voter Registration and Board of Elections

Register to vote, update your address, or request an absentee ballot. Office: 803-914-2125. Clerk of Court handles election administration.

Economic Development

Want to open a business, expand, or understand zoning? Contact the Hampton County Economic Development office through the county directory: 803-914-2100.

Emergency Management

Coordinates disaster response, severe weather alerts, and emergency preparedness. Works with SCEMD.

Planning, Zoning, and Building

Building permits, zoning variances, and GIS maps through the Tax Services office.

Tax Services

Property tax payments, vehicle registration renewals. Online options at hamptoncountysc.org.

Public Works

Road maintenance, drainage complaints, and bridge conditions in unincorporated areas. The county only maintains roads not handled by SCDOT or individual towns.
